5/15/2014

Campaign Includes New Eat. Love. Share. Photo Contest

MADISON, Wis. – From farm breakfasts and festivals to promotions, recipes and a new photo contest, Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board’s (WMMB) Dairy Days of Summer campaign offers no shortage of unique and dairy-friendly ways to celebrate June Dairy Month in Wisconsin.

At the heart of the campaign is the recently updated DairyDaysOfSummer.com website with recipes as well as an interactive farm breakfast locator map and calendar of Wisconsin dairy events.

New to the campaign in 2014 is the Eat. Love. Share. Photo Contest, encouraging consumers to share photos of themselves enjoying Wisconsin Cheese or any other dairy product including butter, ice cream, sour cream, cream cheese, yogurt, whipping cream or milk tagged with #LoveDairy via Instagram™ for a chance to win the $3,000 grand prize. Second and third place photos will receive $2,000 and $1,000 respectively. Photos must be shared between June 1 and June 30, 2014. In July, visitors to the Wisconsin Dairy Facebook page will have the chance to vote for their favorite photo.

"The Dairy Days of Summer campaign makes it easy for everyone to get involved and celebrate Wisconsin’s vibrant dairy industry," said Dave Bavlnka, vice president of Advertising at WMMB. "The website has become the ultimate June Dairy Month guide, filled with fun activities for all ages, from farm breakfasts and dairy festivals, to special retailer events, recipes and more. We look forward to seeing photos from all of the special celebrations happening across the state."

The Dairy Days of Summer interactive calendar is packed with unique dairy-themed festivals, such as the annual Cheese Curd Festival, various sampling opportunities, special menus and deals at participating restaurants and retailers. The complete event listing is available at DairyDaysOfSummer.com/events.

The popular dairy farm breakfast locator map, which is searchable by date or location, features many of the more than 70 dairy farms across Wisconsin that welcome the public to enjoy a hearty breakfast during the month of June.

In addition, the site offers a collection of more than 50 dairy-friendly recipes, ranging from breakfast and appetizers to dinner and desserts. Among the new June Dairy Month offerings are Raspberry Cheese Bars, Peach Pie Tarts, Cherry Dump Cake, Raspberry Paletas and Bacon Avocado Dip.

1 cup (6 ounces) fresh raspberries, divided
8 ounces frozen limeade concentrate, thawed
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup lemon-lime soda

Directions:
Place half raspberries in medium bowl and mash well; set aside. In large bowl, combine limeade, yogurt and soda; mix well.

Add 1/2 cup limeade mixture to raspberries; mix well. Refrigerate remaining limeade mixture.

Fill popsicle molds or paper cups 1/3 full with raspberry mixture. Freeze 2 hours or until firm. Divide remaining berries amongst frozen popsicles and top with remaining lime yogurt mixture. Add popsicle sticks* and freeze 2 hours or until firm. Remove from molds or cups and serve immediately.
