Look for the Proudly Wisconsin Badge when shopping for cheese. Any brand of Wisconsin Cream Cheese or Mascarpone can be used in this recipe.


  1. Combine cream cheese and mascarpone in a small bowl. Set aside.
  2. Whisk the milk, egg and vanilla in a large, shallow bowl; set aside. 
  3. Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add brown sugar; cook and stir until sugar is dissolved. Stir in liqueur. Bring to a gentle boil. Reduce heat; simmer just until mixture begins to thicken. Add banana. Cook and toss, constantly, for 2-3 minutes or until banana is well coated. Remove from heat. Transfer to a bowl; cool slightly. Wipe out skillet.
  4. Spread reserved mascarpone mixture onto each bread slice. Layer 1 bread slice with banana mixture. Sprinkle with salt. Top with remaining bread slice mascarpone side down. Dip sandwich into reserved milk mixture, coating both sides. 
  5. Melt remaining butter in the same large skillet over medium-low heat. Toast sandwich for 2-4 minutes on each side or until bread is golden brown and mascarpone mixture is melted.
