Fudge Ribbon Cake



For Cake:

For Ribbon Layer:

Satisfy your favorite chocolate lover's sweet tooth with a piece of this fudgy cake. It's laced with an attractive ricotta ribbon layer that adds richness and moisture. Top it with a vanilla ice cream. Simply delicious!

For cake:

  1. Heat oven, and prepare cake mix according to package directions. Pour half of the cake batter into a greased and floured 10-inch (about 12 cups) fluted tube pan.

For ribbon layer:

  1. Beat the ricotta, sugar, egg, cornstarch, milk and vanilla in a small bowl until smooth and creamy. Carefully spread ricotta mixture evenly over cake batter, taking care to not overmix. Gently top with remaining cake batter. Bake according to package directions for Bundt cake or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 30 minutes or until cake can be easily removed from pan to a wire rack. Cool completely.    

For glaze:

  1. Combine glaze ingredients in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until chocolate is melted. Cool slightly. Spoon over cake.

Recipe Tips

  • Any brand of Wisconsin whole milk ricotta cheese can be used.
  • The additional ingredients (eggs, oil and water) and preparation instructions vary per brand of cake mix. The specific ingredients needed, amounts of each and directions for making a Bundt cake are on the back of the box.
