Aged Cheddar and Maple-Bacon Flatbread

Aged Cheddar and Maple-Bacon Flatbread

Ingredients List

Look for the Proudly Wisconsin Badge when shopping for cheese. Any brand of Wisconsin Aged Cheddar can be used in this recipe.

  1. Fry bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes or until fat is rendered. Drain fat and discard. Reduce heat to medium. Add maple syrup; cook and stir for 3-5 minutes longer or until bacon is crisp. Remove from heat. Transfer to waxed paper to cool; separate pieces. Set aside.
  2. Place pizza stone on lower rack in a cold oven. Heat oven to 400ºF. Bake stone for at least 30 minutes. Meanwhile, sprinkle 3/4 cup cheddar over flatbread to within 1/2 inch of edges. Top with apple and reserved bacon. Sprinkle with remaining cheddar.
  3. Carefully transfer flatbread to pizza stone, using a rimmless baking sheet or pizza peel. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until crust edges are deep golden brown and cheese is melted. Remove from oven. Garnish with green onions. Serve immediately.
